The following contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 219, "The Bath, Part 4" by Gege Akutami, John Werry and Snir Aharon, available now in English through Viz Media.
Sukuna has always been a central antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen, and in recent chapters, the King of Curses has overthrown Kenjaku in the ranks of evil. Since his shocking decision to jump vessels from Itadori Yuji to Megumi Fushiguro, the curse has made the latter's life hellish. Sukuna will do whatever he can to sink Megumi's soul into the depths of evil and is slowly becoming successful in doing so.

Fushiguro was barely clinging to life, but following the events of Chapter 219 seems to have finally reached the end of his tether. Sukuna has full control of the sorcerer's body and is making the most of the powerful 10 Shadows Technique -- one with the potential to destroy the world. Fushiguro must fight back to avoid this fate, but his soul may be too broken to do so.

Sukuna Killed Tsumiki in JJK Chapter 219
Chapter 219, "The Bath, Part 4," saw the conclusion of Sukuna and Yorozu's high-stakes battle. The King of Curses killed his admirer using previously untamed Shikigami from Fushiguro's innate technique, bringing an end to both the Heian-era sorcerer and Megumi's sister, Tsumiki. This was detrimental to Fushiguro's will, as the one thing consistently urging the sorcerer to keep fighting was Tsumiki. Now, he has witnessed his most precious family member murdered by his own hands.

Sukuna purposefully sought to kill Yorozu, as he was aware that doing so would make Megumi succumb to him at last. By killing his sister, the antagonist was successful in drowning Fushiguro in evil, destroying his soul and will to fight. The sorcerer is at rock bottom, unwilling to fight back against Sukuna because he's lost everything, with the chapter's final panel depicting the young boy lying on the floor in tears, clearly having given up. Fushiguro is now passive, meaning Sukuna is stronger than ever.

Fushiguro has the option to react to this in one of two ways. He can either submit to the darkness inside him, allowing Sukuna to kill more people he loves, or fight back with all he has to avenge Tsumiki. Megumi has never viewed himself as a hero; he focuses mainly on justice and doesn't care whether he's seen as being good or bad, but he isn't one to give up. It's most likely that the sorcerer will dust himself off and have a new lease of life to attack Sukuna with, taking vengeance for Tsumiki.
While he's currently at rock bottom, Fushiguro is a fighter, especially when it comes to his sister. To make sure Tsumiki's death wasn't meaningless, Megumi has to fight Sukuna from the inside and bring the ancient sorcerer to justice. His character arc centers around the distanced Zenin's lost potential, and there is no opportunity as apt for Megumi to prove himself.
It is especially important that Fushiguro takes the fighter's route, as it has been previously stated that the 10 Shadow's Technique is the only one able to rival the Gojo clan's Limitless and Six Eyes. Thus, it's very possible that Sukuna could defeat Gojo Satoru as the series concludes, ridding the Jujutsu Society of their strongest sorcerer. Without Gojo to protect them, society will fall and Sukuna's evil tyranny will begin, changing the world as everyone knows it.

Fushiguro Will Do Anything for Tsumiki
Much of Megumi's drive and inspiration stems from saving his sister, so it seems unlikely that he would just let her die. She has been the only constant in his life since childhood, and he even became a jujutsu sorcerer for her, so letting her death go without justice would be out of character for him. In the "Death Painting" arc, he risked his life at Yasohachi Bridge, choosing to fight a special grade cursed spirit alone for Tsumiki's sake. Similarly, most of his time in the "Culling Game" arc was used to gain points to create a rule that would save his sister from the games, risking his life against strong modern and ancient sorcerers.

Fushiguro pushing back against Sukuna's control is key for the antagonist to be taken down, and his will to avenge Tsumiki will drive him to do so. He has never hesitated to put his own life on the line for his sister's sake, and now he has even more drive to fight Sukuna. This, mixed with his already strong sense of justice and approach to handing it out, is necessary to the King of Curses' downfall.
Megumi's potential has consistently been hinted at throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, and now is the best time for the character's arc to conclude. He loves his sister and will do anything for her, including showing the world his power and bringing down Sukuna from the inside. He has to work with Gojo to ensure the antagonist's demise, but he needs a push from Itadori, the one who always saves him, to realize which path to take.
